Round 4 of the AMA Texas State Championship South Series heads to Murphy’s MX this weekend, and with the Rafter S Shootout behind us, the championship picture is starting to take shape.

The double points weekend at Rafter S shook up a few classes, strengthened some championship leads and brought the North, South and Central Region’s best together for the first time this season. Now, with the South Region returning to action, here are a few classes and riders we’ll be keeping an eye on this weekend.

Brayden Trevino came out swinging in the 50cc 4–6 class, winning every moto through the opening rounds. The streak came to an end at the Shootout with a 2-3 finish, but Trevino is still right in the middle of the championship fight. He heads into Murphy’s MX second in points, just 16 back from Central Region’s Nathan Martins.
50cc (7–8)
Right now, Jaxon Kopcak is the kid to beat in the 50cc 7-8 class.

Through three rounds and six motos, nobody has found an answer for Kopcak. His biggest weekend came at the Rafter S Shootout, where a 1-1 performance with double points on the line helped open up a 15-point advantage over Brecken Burley, who has been handling business over in the Central Region.

Six motos down, six wins in the books. Murphy’s MX is the next test.

125cc B/C
As Gauge Brown continues his dominance in the 125cc B/C class, Layne Fleshe and Aiden McKiddie continue to battle week after week behind him. Fleshe has held the advantage through the opening rounds, but McKiddie turned the tables in Moto 2 at the Shootout, finishing ahead of Fleshe for the first time this season.

Brown continues to lead the championship with 200 points, while Fleshe and McKiddie round out the top three as the series heads to Murphy’s MX.

MINI-E 4-8
Points couldn’t be much tighter in the Mini – E 4-8 class.

Brecken Burley and Braxton Angello entered Rafter S undefeated in their respective regions. Burley in the Central and Angello in the South. Once all three regions came together, though, both streaks ended.

Angello went 3-4 and edged Burley by one position overall, but neither walked away with an advantage where it matters most. The two leave the Shootout tied in the championship standings, setting up an interesting second half of the series. Angello gets the next opportunity this weekend at Murphy’s MX.

Charlie Orr came up big in the final 85cc 9-13 moto at Rafter S.
Charlie Orr entered the final moto at Rafter S after a fourth-place finish in Moto 1. He responded exactly how he needed to with a win. The 4-1 combination gave Orr the overall on a weekend where double points made every position that much more valuable.

When the dust settled, Orr walked away with the win and a seven point championship advantage over Central Region’s Dakota Lee.

65cc 7-9
Is anyone going to stop Kellan Cooper? Round after round, moto after moto, Kellan Cooper just keeps winning in the 65cc (7–9) class.

He hasn’t dropped a moto all season, and that consistency has turned into a massive 39-point championship advantage. While several classes remain separated by only a handful of points, Cooper has created some serious breathing room in this class. Now we find out if the perfect run survives another weekend.

VET WOMEN 25
Linzee Pichler has answered every challenge in Vet Women 25+, sweeping every moto she’s lined up for including both at the Rafter S Shootout.

That performance has Pichler sitting 12 points clear of Central Region’s Sabrina Ritzler, while South Region rival Makena Parks remains in the championship conversation. Another weekend, another chance for someone to finally break Pichler’s streak.
Next up: Murphys Mx
