While most American moto fans were cheering on Team USA at the Motocross of Nations at Ironman last weekend, the Texas crowd loaded up and headed to New Ulm for Round 5 of the South Texas Motocross Championship at Irondog MX. Its Hard to believe the season’s already nearing its end, as it feels like we were just lining up for round one at 3 Palms not long ago.

With only two rounds left in the South Region going into this weekend, we were hoping for a bigger crowd at round five. The turnout seemed to be on the lighter side, but that might just be because we were spoiled with the massive Shootout at Underground a couple weeks ago. Even so, it was still a solid day of Texas motocross. The track held up great, got rough and rutted late in the day, and the racing was on point. It’s clear the crew at Irondog MX has put in a ton of effort to make this place what it is. Let dig into some of the action.

50cc
Braxton Angello and Radley Kelley Trade Wins, Angelo Takes the Overall
In the 51cc 4–6 Limited class, Braxton Angello and Radley Kelley swapped positions in both motos — Radley took the win in Moto 1, while Angello fired back to win Moto 2 and claim the overall. Huddson Fulfer had a front-row seat to the action, going 3-3 on the day to round out the podium. Shoutout to Ryder Davis (4-4) and Hendrick Carroll (5-5) for consistent rides just outside the top three.

Kellan Cooper Went Full Send for the win in the 50cc Open 4–8 Class

Yup, Kellan Cooper is a bad dude on two wheels. He sent it big on one of the biggest jumps on the course aboard his Cobra 50. We caught a few angles of it, but this shot with him nearly soaring over Brazos Brackett really puts it into perspective how big he was sending it. He backed it up with a perfect 1-1 score, with Callahan Russo and Jaxon Kopcak rounding out the top three. And check this out, Nicholas Hitt went from 11th in Moto 1 to 4th in Moto 2! Way to bounce back, dude!

Top Five: 51cc 4-8 Air-Cooled Class
Link Masch 1-1

Ares Chester 2-2

Huddson Fulfer 3-3

Hendrick Carroll 4-4

Kacen Dillon 8-5

The return of John Everett Pastureau
The last time we saw John Everett Pastureau line up in Texas was back in 2022, when he was still ripping on 50s and 65s. To our surprise, he was back on the gate this weekend and absolutely shredding winning all his motos in the 85cc 9–11 and 9–11 Open classes. We caught up with John for a quick interview, and here’s what he had to say.

Elevated: John, it’s been a while since we last saw you on the gate here in Texas. Catch us up — what have you been up to, and where have you been racing or riding recently?
John: Just having fun visiting places, and racing-wise, it’s been mostly up north, training at Club MX.
Elevated: The last time we saw you ride, you were on 50s and 65s. And this weekend, you were absolutely flying on the 85. It looks like you’ve adapted really well. How are you liking the 85 so far?
John: I love it. You can hit way bigger jumps on it, and I think I’ve adapted so well because I actually have a Supermini at Club MX.

Elevated: Walk us through your weekend at Irondog MX. You swept all four motos in the 85cc 9–11 and 9–11 Open classes. What did you think of the track, and how was it lining up and battling with the Texas crew again?
John: Winning those motos was great, but the best part was riding the track. I’d been looking forward to hitting Irondog ever since I found out we were going. It was awesome seeing my old friends, and racing with them made it even better.
Elevated: We appreciate you taking the time to chat with us. Before we let you go, who would you like to thank for helping make it all happen?
John: Big thanks to my mom and dad, Syntergy Racing, Club MX, FXR, 100%, Gibson Tyre Tech, Trix Flow Suspension, Kirby Moto Works, Money Inc., Huxon Brand, and my brother Jonah for filming me!

C CLASS STANDOUTS
Nate Millsap

Nate Millsap turned things around after a 5th in Moto 1, coming back strong to win the second 450C moto and snag third overall. Jaxson Nelson took the overall win, with Holden Poole locking down second.
Trevor Tanskleary
Talk about grit — after a hard crash in the second moto of the 250 C Jr class following a collision with another rider, Trevor Tanskleary got back up, remounted, and pushed through to finish the race.
Braxton Beierman

Braxton Beierman laid down a pair of 3rd-place finishes in the 250C class, trailing Talon Becerra and Holden Poole but he looked good doing it. We like this kids style. 🤘🏻
Schoolboy 1
In the Schoolboy 1 class, Hudson Short came out swinging, grabbing the hole shot in both motos and checking out early to take convincing wins. Brayden Cassady did his best to keep the pressure on, but Short was in a league of his own this weekend. The real battle was for the final podium spot between Shane Steffens and Tenisyn Lopez. In Moto 1, Lopez secured third, but in Moto 2, Steffens edged him out for the position — earning himself third overall for the day.

FIVE RANDOM BANGERS 🔥

THE END. SEE YOU AT FREESTONE
