Split Lanes and Battles | Murphy’s Mx

The Texas State Motocross Championship continues to heat up, and this past weekend, the South Division made its way to Murphys MX for Round Three. Located in the town of Red Rock, the track offers a unique layout, complete with multiple split lanes, and challenging sections that made for some great racing. Temperatures climbed into the 90s, but the Murphys crew kept the races on schedule and the track in great condition. While the turnout wasn’t record-breaking, with 310 entries, a lower turnout was expected given another Texas race was going on handing out AMA Number one plates.

Let’s dive into the highlights and action from Round Three of the South Division at Murphys.

50cc Headlines

Murphys was buzzing with young talent, and it was clear the future of the sport is in good hands. Across all the 50cc classes, consistency was the name of the game this weekend, with most winners securing perfect 1-1 finishes.

With four moto wins, Kellan Cooper secured the overall in both the 51cc 7–8 Limited and 51cc 4–8 Limited divisions.

Rad Results For Radley With 2-1 Win in 51cc 4–6 Limited

The 51cc 4-6 class was the exception, as Radley Kelly and Braxton Angello kept things interesting. Angello took the first moto win, but Kelly bounced back in the second to secure the overall. Big shoutout to Cole Stevenson for holding it down on the podium in both motos with back-to-back third-place finishes, and props to Gaston Guerra for sending it in moto one and grabbing a solid fourth-place finish.

Carrol sweeps both motos to take the overall in 51cc Air-Cooled Limited

In the first 51cc air-cooled moto, Hendricks Carrol came flying out of the gate with a strong start, chased closely by Kacen Dillon and Grayson Doby. Carrol held the lead for the entire moto, while Kacen and Grayson battled hard for second. In the end, Kacen managed to hold off the pressure and secure the runner-up spot.

The second moto played out much the same, with Carrol grabbing the holeshot once again and setting the pace up front. Kacen and Grayson kept the pressure on in second and third. Meanwhile, the fight for fourth between Baylor Angelo and Brex Teutsch was nothing short of epic. Baylor dug deep to snag fourth in the second moto, which also earned him fourth overall on the day.

85cc 9-11

Man, did we see some great racing on Sunday in the 85cc 9-11 class. Adam Aguirre, Cooper Upton, Perry Eli Stockwell, Sebastien Hardenne, and Damian O’Neill rounded out the top five, each grabbing their best moto finishes in the South Division this year in this class except Upton, who already claimed a win at Round One. They also hold the top five spots in season points, with Adam Aguirre leading by 12 points over Cooper Upton.

As far as the racing goes, in the first moto it was the number 13 of Adam Aguirre who got out front early. By the start of the second lap, Adam had already pulled a solid lead over Cooper Upton and the rest of the field. When the white flag flew, Adam was gone, but the battle for second was heating up. Ultimately, Cooper Upton held on to second, while Perry Stockwell pulled off a sick pass on Sebastien Hardenne in the air to grab third place in the moto. Damian O’Neill was close but ended up rounding out the top five in moto one. In the second moto, the top five finishers from the first moto finished in the same order once again.

65CC 7-11 open

In the 65cc 7-11 Open class, Mikel Andre Garcia made his 2025 South Division debut with an impressive hole shot in the opening moto. Brayson Barker and Kellan Cooper followed closely behind as Garcia stretched out his lead. Cooper began charging toward the front in an effort to overtake Barker, but a late-race mistake lap cost him. After remounting, Cooper salvaged a sixth-place finish, while Braddox Campbell capitalized on the miscue to secure the final podium spot in Moto 1.

In the second moto, Mikel looked poised for another strong start, but an early mistake opened the door for Brayson Barker and Kellan Cooper to take control out front. Starting deep in the pack, Garcia charged forward and remarkably grabbed the lead by start of the third lap, battling closely with Cooper along the way. Braddox Campbell showed impressive speed throughout the moto, but a hard crash in the closing laps cost him a shot at the overall podium. Garcia held strong to take the moto win and secure the overall victory, followed by Cooper and Barker. A round of applause goes to Luke Lindholm and Carlos Briones for rounding out the top five.

Your overall top five:

  1. Mikel Andre Garcia 1-1
  2. Bryson Barker 2-3
  3. Kellan Cooper 6-2
  4. Luke Lindholm 4-4
  5. Carlos Briones 5-5

Standout Performances

The Flesche Brothers

The Flesche brothers continue to dominate the South, and this weekend in Murphy’s was no different. In the Mini Sr. class, Layne and Landon Flesche locked down the top two spots in both motos, with Karson Lazo finishing third. Levi Lewis took fifth in the opening moto but improved to fourth in the second, edging out Maximus Mock for the fourth overall spot. This weekend’s shootout, when all the districts combine at Underground, is going to be wild!

Standout Moto 250 C Moto 1

The C class never disappoints, and this weekend at Murphy’s it delivered some of the best racing on the program. In the opening 250 C moto, Michael Cuthbert, Anthony Adrian, and Ethan Owens rocketed out of the gate with Trevor Tanskleary and Holden Poole giving chase. Midway through, Cuthbert began to open a gap while the battle behind him intensified. On the lap before the finish, Poole slipped past Tanskleary to grab third and set his sights on Owens in second. Despite a hard charge, he ran out of time to make the pass. At the checkered flag, the entire top five crossed within seconds of each other making it the Standout Moto of the day.

Aaron Henson Brought The Style

Although we didn’t see Aaron line up in the second motos, he was fun to watch in the morning, winning some moto’s and throwing it down on almost every jump.

Save Of The Day

Off the start, Kyle Boggs, and Stetson Ramon collide midair, and we have no idea how they managed not to go down. Kyle Boggs, would go on and get second place to secure the overall win in the School Boy 2 12-17 class.

Denby Jr Wheeler

Denby Jr Wheeler, lived up to his last name and pulled off a sick wheelie for our cameras after a successful first Moto in the Mini E 7-8 Class. He went on to win his second moto and overall for the day.
