There wasn’t much racing to report after a long morning at Swan MX for the South Central Amateur Regional in Tyler, Texas, as only one race was completed before the event was called for the day. Rain had been on the radar all week, and after Friday’s practice, there was no doubt this race weekend was shaping up to be a muddy one.
As Saturday morning got underway, everything stayed on schedule. Sight laps rolled out on time for those brave enough to take on the conditions, and once they wrapped up, Schoolboy 2 lined up at the gate for what was supposed to be their first of three motos on the weekend.
The gate dropped, and the chaos began. The cleanest bike through the mud and into turn one belonged to the #31 of Jack Pullin. Already on our radar as one of the riders to watch in a loaded Schoolboy 2 class, Pullin did exactly what you have to do in conditions like these and pulled the holeshot. Behind him, Wyatt Thurman, Christopher Harris, Talon Trahan, and Asher Brown battled their way into the top five as the field charged toward turn two.
Pullin didn’t stay clean for long. Before he made it to turn two, a mistake sent him to the ground, turning the cleanest bike on the track into one of the muddiest. This allowed Thurman and the rest of the pack to move by and set the stage for the remainder of the race.
As the laps clicked away, Thurman continued to ride smart, keeping the bike upright and building a gap over Harris. Mason Brown and Asher Brown followed closely behind, with Asher settling into a fourth place ride.
From there, the top four stayed unchanged until the checkered flag. The rider on the move, however, was Giuliano Salinas from Auburn, New York. After completing the opening lap in tenth, Salinas began charging through the field and moved up to seventh by lap two. He continued his push forward, climbing all the way to fifth by the end of the moto, all while battling the brutal conditions without goggles. Colorado’s Quentin Strotheide followed behind, crossing the finish line in sixth. Cash Petersen, Gage Dunham, William Vanderford, and Sawyer Treadwell completed the top ten.
By the time the checkered flag flew, the conditions had taken their toll, with only the top ten riders in the 22-rider field managing to complete all five laps of moto one.

After the final bike was cleaned off the track, officials made the call to put the program on a two-hour delay, hoping the weather would give Swan MX a chance to recover. Unfortunately, the conditions didn’t improve enough, and the decision was eventually made to call the rest of the day’s racing. The schedule will now move to a two-moto format, with competition picking back up tomorrow morning. Until then, enjoy images from one moto of Chaos.
